Production of polypropylene (PP) in Russia increased by 12% in the first eight months of this year, compared to the same period of 2013. The largest increase was seen in PP production at Poliom and Tobolsk-Polymer, according to MRC ScanPlast.

Russia"s PP production decreased to 61,700 tonnes in August, compared with 63,200 tonnes in July because of the scheduled maintenance works at Ufaorgsintez and Poliom. Total PP production in Russia was 623,750 tonnes in January - August 2014, compared with 558,100 tonnes year on year. All the Russian producers have improved their production figures, except for Neftekhimiya and Ufaorgsintez.

Structure of PP production over the reported period looked as follows. Poliom (GK Titan, Omsk) reduced its PP production in August because of maintenances works to 6,400 tonnes, compared with 16,700 tonnes in July. Producer"s PP production in the first eight months of 2014 was 109,500 tonnes, compared with 73,600 tonnes year on year.

Tobolsk-Polymer (SIBUR) due to technical problems worked at the low production rates in August, having produced 16,500 tonnes. Producer"s PP production was 114,700 tonnes in January - August of this year.

Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Tomskneftekhim have slightly increased PP production over the reported period, up 1% and 2% respectively, reaching 142,500 tonnes and 81,900 tonnes.

Neftekhimiya (Kapotnya) and Ufaorgsintez have reduced PP production over the reported period by 4% and 1%, respectively, to 78,100 tonnes and 79,000 tonnes respectively.

Stavrolen has been shut since late February because of a failure in the production of ethylene.
